Kids in style Sydney A few of our favourite things .......

Kids in Style Sydney has been and gone .Some old favourites were there and we also found some fab new products , designers .

Some of our favourite clothing labels on display were Tea Princess with its vintage inspired capes and dresses just GORGEOUS also we fell in love with Melbourne based Mini Treasure Kids stunning use of fabrics and design.

We also have to mention and a little dog laughed their crochet blankets and stunning knitted toys are just gorgeous (pictures below)

Two new products that really took our fancy Babyo Organic Kids Shampoo ,Bubble Bath and hair styling gel smelt so good i wanted to eat it Indian Lime YUM !

Also Ball and Skittles AMAZING colour in dress ups retailing for $30.00 how cool are these pictures below)

Nordic House toys and Bluebell Underwear were favourites with the retailers .

Jetti Spaghetti have lunched a new range called Living like Lulu and they dont dissapoint with the most gorgeous apple storage containers and a birdcage lamp that is divine.

I think by now you guys know that i like to support women in business that are bringing about positive change in their own way.

This week meet one of those inspiring woman Sarah Drysdale an Australian living in Mumbai

cornflowerblue was founded by director Sarah Drysdale, who divides her time between Australia and India. Sarah began daydreaming of cornflowerblue after chatting with girlfriends in Mumbai about the lack of pretty, girlie clothes that are affordable and in the next breath... organic. This set Sarah off on an adventure, armed with the designs for her first collection, to find who made the most beautiful organic clothes in India. Sarah soon evolved the concept of cornflowerblue to include stocking other fabulous organic and fair labels from around the world.

Sarah based the idea for cornflowerblue on the belief that no matter what business we are in, we have a responsibility to care and to know about the impact we are having on our planet and the people who live here.

cornflowerblue gives Sarah the opportunity to combine her love of fashion and design with her unique charity work and her care for the planet.

“I have witnessed first hand the environmental degradation in developing nations as they try to keep pace with the demand to produce goods for the developed world. My family has walked in the slums of India, driven through farmland craving water and in need of better farming practices and breathed the polluted air of Hong Kong and South East China.

We all have a role to play; we can all bring about change in this world simply by demanding that goods be made in people and planet friendly ways.

I am lucky to have the opportunity to show children and women in the developing world that people do care. I love educating children so they don’t end up being one of 300,000 child laborers that are estimated to work in the Indian cotton fields. I enjoy handing out business starter packs to new beauticians living in the slums as they eagerly venture out to start their new business. I love seeing children wearing organic clothes that are kind on their skin and kind on our planet.

Like most mums, I have a soft spot for fashion and I love seeing my girls dressed up. My dream is for cornflowerblue to showcase fabulous fashion so that every child can look gorgeous. The desire is in everyone’s heart to see children, women and our planet protected.

An Interview with Trelise Cooper KFR Exclusive

What inspires you?

Inspiration comes from many conscious and unconscious influences. Places or people that touch me in some way, vintage fabrics with unique handwork, embellished and bejewelled historical garments and construction techniques; iconic women of history, travelling and watching people; visiting art galleries; going to live theatre; music movies and dreams…. I am constantly being inspired by everything that surrounds me.

Do you start with a fabric and then design or is the other way around?

Sometimes the idea for the garment comes first and I search for the perfect fabric to make it with. Other times I find a fabric I love love love and ask myself “what can I make with this?” A good example of this is while I was in India last year I purchased a beautiful traditional Indian sari that had the most amazing wooden hand blocked print of butterflies. The technique was so gorgeous and striking (I adore butterflies) that I decided to adapt it into a print for my Trelise Cooper Kids Summer 2010 collection. Look out for the beautiful pink dress with golden butterflies.

How would you spend a perfect day?

Waking up to the sunrise at my Omaha beach house, a morning meditation burning my favourite Jo Malone candles, 20 minutes on my new Power Plate machine (love it!), breakfast with my husband Jack - fresh fruit and coffee. An afternoon reading and working on designs and then preparing a dinner party for my close friends. With the expansion of my business it’s hard to find as much time as I would like for cooking these days, but I really enjoy it!

What is your favourite childhood memory?

In the basement room of my friend’s house in our cul-de-sac, dressing up in our mothers 50s style clothes - lots of colours, sparkly high heels, jeweled garments and big skirts. So much fun!

Do you have a personal favourite piece from this seasons TCK collection?

I love the Igloo ‘On Your Toes’ hoodie made out of mismatched bright woolen fabrics with a pair of sequined ballet slippers on the back. Great for those winter play dates or throwing on after ballet class – sometimes I wish I had a little girl to dress!

Any hints as to what we may see for summer from Trelise Cooper Kids?

My Trelise Cooer Kids Summer 2010 collection is designed for girls with big dreams - Little senorita’s will love plenty of “Frida” inspired styles. There’s also lots of playful layering pieces with hot air balloons in summer skies, scottish terriers and polka dots, hippy chick paisleys and strawberry fields. Princesses will find their favourite dresses in soft summery florals, layered tuelle skirts and there is a selection of leggings to match every look in the collection.
